Tonight, doing various searches on the Internet I came across the item below. Now it is interesting for a variety of reasons, but one of the main ones is the fact that the person/people running a web site called http://masada2000.org are so afraid of being contacted by the people they are slandering that you will be hard pressed to find contact names or addresses on the web sites.
This reflects on the courage these people have of their convictions that they are afraid to reveal themselves for the bigoted, racist, homophobic, anti-semitic cowards that they are.
I have no doubt that an email I received, also full of hate and vituperation from someone without the courage of their convictions and so unable to sign their name at the bottom of the email because it would identify them, is the owner of this web site or is closely connected to it.
I wonder if the names Selwyn and Shirley are relevant to the email and web site?
One of the other reasons the item below is interesting is because it is full of lies, distortions and plain misrepresentation of the truth.

He continues, "The Israeli government has shown itself to be as ruthless as the next state when it comes to oppression." Well, let's see who the "next states" are: Syria which murders its own population, Iraq, which tortured, raped and gassed its own population, Lebanon, which murdered and raped its Christian population nearly out of existence, Saudi Arabia, home of Al Qaeda and international terrorism, etc... In comparison, Israel is truly a light among nations!
And, of course, a condemnation by a South African would be incomplete without some reference to Apartheid. Today we had the news that the Federal Government was going to change the superannuation laws to include equal access to gay and lesbian partner rights, but also that the Howard government was to introduce legislation preventing the possibility of same sex marriages and same sex adoptions of children from overseas.
And guess what??
The Opposition ALP - the Australian Labor Party are going to support the government!
There is certainly no hope from either of the major parties in the Australian Parliamentary system, and one hopes that voters will actually realise they have to vote for other parties and make both parties lose seats.
Will gay and lesbian voters perform on the day? Time will tell, but we have to do some hard sell in the communties to ensure that people know what they are -or are not- voting for when the time comes!
Basically I am against marriage in any shape or form, but when it comes to the issue of equal rights for homosexuals, one has to support that right to get married.

On 20 May 2004 I wrote a letter to the online South African newspaper group Independent On Line (IOL).
The letter concerned the genocide which the Israelis were perpetrating against the Palestinians by destroying their country and killing the inhabitants or trying to drive them out.
There was a response in the IOL which gave the usual zionist-Israeli rationale for what Israel and the Sharon government are doing in Gaza and the West Bank. The writer of the letter did, however, sign his name to the letter.
I received two emails about my letter, one from someone who had contacted me previously - a South African Jew living in Sydney and whose views were also typically zionist-Israel orientated, the arguments always being such as to have no arguments in favour of the Palestinians at all.
However, the second email is the one I am going to reproduce here in full, because it descends into the arguments of the anti-semitic, homophobic, racist, religious fundamentalist dogma which is unanswerable. But the other reason for printing the letter is because the letter-writer remains anonymous, which is the most cowardly way of presenting your views without recourse to rational discussion and remains vindictive and full of vilification and hate.

I wrote a letter to the South African based Independent OnLine newspapers group known as IOL.
The letter was on the slaughter of the Palestinians by the Israelis and I suggested this was a genocide which it was necessary for the world to acknowledge and respond to before it is too late.
There was one response to the paper online and two to me personally by email.
One of the responses gave his name and wrote a letter which, although I don't agree with what the writer said, was not abusive but the writer's point of view -from an Israeli-zionist perspective, the writer living in Sydney but an ex-South African Jew.
The other response was abusive, and the letter=writer didn't give his name, because he obviously doesn't have the courage of his convictions.

Tonight's (Friday 21 May 2004) news confirmed what was already fairly obvious but denied - or not admitted - by the USA.
The people who are being named as responsible for the atrocities against Iraqis held for "questioning" by US soldiers were people recruited from some of the US's most notorious and brutal prisons precisely because they were experienced in brutality and assault of the worst sort.
Ex-prison guards or other officials recruited for Iraq have been demonstrating the techniques and skills honed in US prisons.
The thing that surprises most is the fact that US citizens appear to be shocked and horrified by these activites, which have been happening under their noses all the time!!
A country which still sanctions the death penalty as a solution to crime has no moral ground to stand on in regard to human rights in its own country or any other country.
And the US record of full support for Israel is in the same league as all the other goings on, and therefore also don't surprise - they just horrify!

It is not often these days that one comes across a good news story, especially one concerning people from Iraq in Australia, but today we heard a most fantastic story about an Iraqi man we met some months ago at our market in Preston.
At the market there is a shop selling many Middle Eastern items, such as dried fruits, olive oils, nuts, pita bread, Turkish Delight and much more. The men who run the shop may be of Middle Eastern origin - we think maybe Lebanese, and last year, just before the US invasion of Iraq another man arrived at the shop - a friend of the two who run the shop, and he could speak very little English.
It turned out this man came from Iraq and had family there and when the invasion started he had the greatest difficulty in making contact with his family there. The other men in the shop used to tell us a bit about what was going on and explain the situation to us.
This man worked in the shop until recently and had disappeared, so today we asked the two men what had happened to their friend.
It appears he has a temporary protection visa which has run out and the Australian government has told him not to leave the country - a hopeful sign - and he has a job now which helps him to earn a little money.
We were also told that his wife and son are with him. The man left Iraq about four years ago and got to Australia. His wife and son tried to join him two years ago and were on SIEV X which sank off Indonesia/Australia with the loss of about 353 people and about 10 survivors. The wife and son of this man were, miraculously, two of the survivors, and the wife and son each didn't know that the other was alive until they met in a camp in Australia. They have been united with the husband and father and they are all living in Melbourne!!!
So, somehow, this left us feeling that not everything is hopeless and there are some good stories now and again tucked away around our conmmunities!

Last night 18 May 2004) I sent an email to Amnesty International in the UK about the genocide in Palestine.
I also sent an email to Amnesty International in Australia about the incarceration in the concentration camp on Manus Island (Papua New Guinea) of one and only one person - Aladdin Sisalum - and the continuing membership of Philip Ruddock of Amnesty International.
So far there has been no response from either organisation.
The genocide has got worse today with the Israelis acting as if there was no tomorrow, as there assuredly will not be for hundreds more Palestinians as the unchecked slaughter goes on.
When is the world going to protest? Some feeble attempt by Arab nations today in the UN Security Council - of course to be vetoed by the good old USA!!
And while on the subject of that grand democracy - my aunt in the 1940s in South Africa was already using the expression demockery!! - and she didn't live long enough to know how right she was! - why is there an outcry in the USA about its atrocities in Iraq when it still has the death penalty and one of the most brutal prison regimes in any so-called civilised western democracy?
Prisoners in chains? Other brutalities in prisons which seldom get to be heard about in the outside world!
Many Americans learn about brutality at an early age - it is the right under the antiquated constitution for Americans to bear arms and so they have guns in the community which have been used to deadly effect in Columbine and thousands of other places in that benighted country.
Brutality related to the inborn racism in the white community - anybody not white is inferior and must be treated accordingly.

Aladdin Sisalem is an asylum seeker trying to gain asylum in Australia.
The Australian government has locked him up in isolation on Papua New Guinea's Manus Island.
Aladdin is the only inmate of the concentration camp.
Is this treatment of Aladdin any different from the dreadful scenes we have seen of US troop behaviour to prisoners in Iraq?
Aladdin may not be seen to be physically molested -at the moment - although he has been in the past, but his mental molestation is cruelty of the same sort that the US is using in Guantanamo Bay and Baghdad.
An election is due in Australia in the next few months. Unfortunately the oppostion supports the government in its so-called "Pacific Solution". Sounds like Hitler's "Final Solution" against the Jews?

Israel is bombing the Gaza strip and West Bank into oblivion. In the process they are shattering the lives of thousands of Palestinians, human beings who are being denied human rights by a military right wing dictatorship which is supported by the USA. If this is not fascism, it is only one step removed from it!
This is a genocide no different from that which was done to the Jews in Nazi Germany, to the Cambodians by Pol Pot, to the Rwandans by one group against another, by Serbs against Bosnians, the list goes on and on.
Leo Kuper wrote about genocide in the 1980s. Unfortunately Leo Kuper is dead and there need to be people in the world who are prepared to oppose the USA and Israel and to say so unequivocally.
The Arab states have failed, yet again, to do anything about this criminal act on the part of the Israelis.
Those of us who oppose the situation need to speak out on evry occasion that it is possible to do so, and when it is not possible, to make it possible.
There has been a bleat from the United Nations, another bleat from Amnesty International, but no one is putting their feet where their mouths are!

The Israeli genocide against the Palestinians is reaching epic proportions. It seems, however, that the countries which should be protesting loudest at the US-sponsored Israeli destruction of Gaza and the West Bank and all that exists in them are the Arab countries surrounding Israel and Palestine.
And the reason for the silence? They are all client states of the USA and dependent on it for their very existence in terms of trade and oil sales.
These countries have the best weapon of all to prevent the tragedy - the withdrawal of oil and the withholding of it from the USA.
The rest of the world is also not doing very much about it and the outcry may start, belatedly, when the deaths resemble those of Rwanda and other African genocidal situations.
Generally the outcry is muted when it comes to African countries because from a US point of view, black people have no currency in a white western world.
However the Middle East has more leverage because of the oil which is a potent weapon, and one which is not being use.
This is a tragedy of mammoth proportions - Israel is destroying cities, towns and buildings indiscriminately and the people inside them are being killed in greater and greater numbers.
It seems some Israelis are beginning to make their voices heard, but it seems as if it is too litlle, too late!

A recent television show from the USA is called the L-Word and is about lesbians.
There is an "organisation" in Melbourne - or Victoria - called the Saltshakers who are full of religious mumbo jumbo.
They have made protests about the L-Word show and have been instrumental in five organisations withdrawing their adverts from the tv programme.
The five organisations are:
Roche
Just Jeans
Allianz
DaimlerChrysler
Centrum
These firms have subsequently denied they withdrew because of homophobia and some have said they weren't supposed to be advertising on that show anyway.
You can believe what you want to, but the fact remains that these firms should be boycotted by any self-respecting gays, lesbians, transgenders.
The trouble with our communities is that they don't act together and make protests loudly enough for publicity to be generated. A few loud protests here and there won't achieve anything.
Also, it seems as if some of the organisations have actually written disclaimers to the Saltshakers' Peter Stokes to state that they were not influenced by his requests and have denied his statements to the media.
Who one believes and who one doesn't believe is inconsequential. The point is that all this is stirring up a homophobic hornet's nest which the gay, lesbian transgender communities could well do without at this time when a federal election is around the corner and both the government and the opposition are not making any utterances of support for us.
Activism - out on the streets - is the only way out for us, and the pressures have to be kept up, otherwise we will be pushed back to our closets.

To my great surprise, I received an email from the ALP saying I had subscribed to the eLetter newsletter online of the Australian Labor Party. This is, of course, one huge big lie. However, to aggravate the situation, I was invited to supply feedback and given an email address to send it to. Imagine my astonishment when it was returned by my ISP with a message stating that the address had fatal errors in it!!!

For starters, I didn't subscribe to this newsletter and am not sure where
you got the
notion from.
I would never support a party which was responsible for introducing the
concept of
concentration camps in Australia in 1992 and which believed the "children
overboard"
story from the start.
I would never support a party which didn't commit itself to full equality
under the law for
gay, lesbian and transgender people.
I would never support a party which gave the government carte blanche to
institute anti-
terrorism bills when ASIO already has sufficient powers under existing
legislation.
I would never support a party which offers nothing for pensioners who pay
tax through
the gst and have no offer of tax relief from either government or
opposition for aged
pensioners.
I would never support a party which has consistently done its best to
break the trade
unions through various stratagems.
I would never support a party which is preaching releasing children from
the camps but
not their parents and families.
I would never support a party which has a policy of answering submissions
to various
members by responses from its members all saying the same thing.
I would never support a party whose parliamentary members can't be
bothered
answering letters or emails.
I could go on and on, but it would be a waste of your time and my time.

I was a member of the ALP from 1980 to 1986 until I saw the error of my
ways and
realised in which direction the party was going, and that was in the same
direction as
the other conservative parties in Australia, such as the Coalition and the
Democrats.

The more one studies the situation the more one wonders about the correlation between anti-semitism, anti-zionism and anti-Israel.
A friend told me today that the Oxford English dictionary's latest edition has changed what it says for anti-semitism.
I will have to look it up and see what it says that is different from what it has previously said.
This all ties up with this last week's censorship of a publicly-funded artwork which was hastily withdrawn after loud complaints from the zionist apologists in Melbourne.
What is most worrying in this situation, apart from the actual issue of censorship, is the way local, state and federal governments and politicians and their loyal opposition supporters straight away jump on the bandwagon to make sure their support for the zionists and Israel are understood by the public.
It really is all so nsuseating, but those of us Jews who think differently don't seem to have enough numbers to make our voices heard. I find this hard to believe except that activism is generally at such a low ebb, and the whole terrorism scare seems to have everyone shutting up just when government legislation is such that people ought to speak out even more!

The issue of censoring works of art in Melbourne takes on the added twist that people who are complaining are complaining that the art is funded from public money! Well, so what! How else are struggling artists expected to live? And what is more, the political issues involved keep on having lies propagated by the zionists in the equation!! I am simply at a loss to understand why these people don't go and live in Israel. After all there are about 100,000 Jews in Australia, and if most of them feel so strongly about supporting Israel because it would be a haven if we were presented by another Hitler-type attack, they need to understand that Israel will not be able to accommodate the 8 million Jews living in the diaspora - it is just so much poppycock!! But it would be able to support some of those so desperate to make their feelings felt about their support for Sharon and his regime.
The tragedy in Australia is that there is no one with the courage to stand up to the zionist lobby and tell them there are other people in the world who have also suffered terrible disasters and are also deserving of support and understanding. Human rights are not confined to 13 million Jews in the world - other human beings are also entitled to human rights!

One of the most disgraceful acts of censorship occurred in Melbourne during the first week of May 2004. The Age newspaper of 5 May 2004 carried a report headed "Anti-Israel display erased after furore".

The report stated that a publicly funded art exhibit critical of Israel had been dismantled amid a political furore and reported threats of vandalism.

The exhibit, in a Flinders Street shopfront, featured anti-Israel text against a backdrop of a Star of David.

Its two creators erased the display on the night of 4 May after it had been condemned as offensive by Jewish groups and the State Opposition.

Consider, if you will, the reverse situation, in which a display carrying an anti-Palestine text, set against a backdrop of the Palestinian flag, had been displayed in the same place.

Who would have taken any notice of a cry of "foul" by Palestinian groups outraged at this censorship of an art item which displayed Palestinian human rights fights against a background of anti-Palestinian sentiment?

This is yet again an example of the power the Zionist lobby has in Australia, and the effect this lobby has on politicians at all levels of government, local, state and federal.

The attacks on this exhibit from the Australian Jewish News of 7 May 2004 illustrates just how far away from Australian Jewish issues this newspaper has gone to the extent that it should justifiably be renamed "The Israeli Zionist News" because that is just what it is!

Censorship has become an issue which has been used bythe present Federal government to suppress dissent and to push its own conservative agenda to the utmost.

Just think of the asylum seeker issue. Legal teams preparing to go from Melbourne to Nauru to represent the case of illegal detention of asylum seekers by the Nauru government acting for its "daddy" state Australia were prevented from going to Nauru by the so-called Nauruan government at the behest of Australia, so that the asylum seekers would not obtain any legal assistance in presenting their case.

The human rights abuses of the current Federal government are too numerous to list, but attempts to voice these abuses is censored by newspapers and governments alike.

The so-called anti-Israel art work is just another such case in point.

If this is democracy at work, is Australia in the end any better than those countries it spends a great deal of time attacking as being undemocratic and dictatorial?

We sent this letter to The Age newspaper in Melbourne. Why were we not surprised that the letter was not published??

Quartet for comment! Laws, Jones, Flint and Howard bring to light the
intrigue and drama of Verdi's opera. Gone suddenly is all that is dull and
boring in Australian politics. Rigoletto is alive and well in Sydney. The
Quartet is singing and the House is electrified - the best entertainment
in years - as we await the finale with bated breath. What a performance!
